Next to the comfort of God, Psychiatric medicine is the hallmark of mental health. Don’t allow anyone to convince you to stop taking your medication, including yourself. God uses medicine to heal our minds and body.
When a person begins to feel healthy and stable the false belief sets in she doesn’t need the medication any longer. This fallacy has returned patients to the hospital to be re-stabilized. There those Christians who are of the persuasion God will answer and heal our mental issues supernaturally. Granted could if He chooses. We are not of this line of interpretation.

I have something important to say. Get a DNA medical test to find which medicines will help you the most and which ones will be the most harmful to your biology. Years ago I took Haldol. The side effects were so severe it crippled me with Parkinsonism. The neurologist says I still have a movement disorder and I take medication for that. Had I had the genetic test in the first days of my diagnosis, much of my suffering would have been avoided. I would not have felt so much like an experiment for the psychiatrist to discover which medication would be the better for my personal DNA. I recommend Genesight.com for your personal “Combinational Pharmacogenomic Test” because that is where I received excellent results.
God is the most important part of medicinal treatment. Pharmaceuticals cannot do their ordained role apart from the providential hand of God. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul writes, “No longer be a drinker of water only, but use a small amount of wine because of your stomach and your frequent sicknesses.” (1 Timothy 5:23 MLV). Medicines were used in Bible times; a small amount of wine is one of them.

A concept is in the Bible called providence. Through this agency that God often works behind the scenes according to His sovereign will. Father God uses hospitals, doctors, nurses, therapy, medicine and other modes of operating on our minds to bring balance and harmony to our life journey with mental illness.
Jesus says “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV) We go to the Lord of life trust he will bring healing to our weary minds and knowing he will enable us to overcome the worst of it. Have confidence in the faith. Christ has give us the healing power of prayer. The New Testament says,
“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15 ESV).
The most important to Father God is our salvation. We will leave our flesh and blood behind, as they cannot inherit the eternal kingdom (1 Corinthians 15:50). Yes, our brain will be turned to dust and our true self, our spirit will go to God who made us. Medicine is a temporary fix, a band aid if you will. The balm for the spirit is everlasting.
